what should be the readings of a good battery %26amp; of a bad one ?
thankHow to test battery draw with digital multimeter for both cases when engine is on %26amp; when engine is off ? thank?
To test a batteries charge, turn you meter to the voltage setting and connect the red lead to the positive terminal on the battery and the black lead to the negative terminal on the battery. With the car off a good fully charged battery should read 12.6v. With the car running you should read something like 13v-14v.To test battery draw with the engine off, disconnect the negative cable from the battery and with your meter switched to the amp setting, connect the meter's leads between the negative post on the battery and the negative cable. You what to see a draw of less than probably .3 amps. Any more than that and you'll have a dead battery in the morning. If you have more you can start pulling fuses until you draw disappears. That will tell you what circuit is causing the draw. How to test battery draw with digital multimeter for both cases when engine is on %26amp; when engine is off ? thank?
with engine off should read around 11-12 v when running it should be around 12-13 volts its higher when running cause of alternator
Fully charged car battery is 12.8 volts and with engine running it is 14.5 or more if charging system is o.k.
