How does a paternity test work in my case?

Okay, so i'm pregnant and the father doesn't want anything to do with the baby (long story) but anyway i know by law he will have to pay child support but my question is... do you wait until after the baby is born until he has to start paying that? How does a paternity test work in my case?
When the child is born, you go to court and file for a paternity test.Once paternity has been established, you then file for child support.

Just know that he might change his mind and want to be in the child's life.In that case, he could go file for visitation. How does a paternity test work in my case?
paternity test is done on the baby after born and him to prove he is the father.

then you have to take him to court to get child support.

do you really want this guy in your life for eighteen years?
as far as I know you need to wait till the child is born.
The hospital should help u out with this.
